character design

Pictured below: examples of character design concept art I created between 2021-2023.

Penny Falconer, the protagonist of Chronoclasm. Pictured: Two early sketches, one sketch revised based on team feedback, one HUD sprite mockup, and one fully-colored reference.

The final designs of Chronoclasm’s NPCs. Dove Little (Penny’s childhood friend), Henry Falconer (Penny’s father), Oliver Blakely (Penny’s missing brother’s friend), and Samantha Song (Penny’s college roommate).

Magical girl-style characters, designed for Magical Girl Game Jam 7. 2023.

Miza and Decker, original characters (detailed below). Art from December 2021.

Decker is the protagonist of a story concept that’s been bouncing around in my head since December 2018; she’s a mage student, apprenticed to an adult witch, and the story follows her as she chases her classmate, Miza, across the kingdom. Decker is friendly and easy-going and specializes in earth magic. Design and artwork from January 2019.

Miza is the deuteragonist of Decker’s story; she’s apprenticed to the same adult witch as Decker. Miza stumbles into a contract with a powerful creature and winds up betraying her teacher, slashing through the insignia on her coat and leaving Decker behind. Miza is headstrong and quick to anger, and she specializes in lightning and rot magic. Design and artwork from January 2019.

NPCs from a D&D 5e campaign I ran in the fall of 2021. Art from November 2021. Topaz (left) and Ruby (right), sisters and the daughters of the Fairy queen who ask the party for help taking down their curse-corrupted mother.
